Dismember My Monster
Exhibition | 11 - 16 November | The Tagli | 67 Great Titchfield Street, London W1W 7PT
THE TAGLI is delighted to present Dismember My Monster, the second solo exhibition by British artist Lottie Stoddart (b. 1989). The exhibition brings together paintings and ceramics that investigate the uncanny intersections of flesh, architecture, and everyday objects. Stoddart’s. meticulously composed works blur the lines between the edible, the anatomical, and the artificial, creating environments that are at once playful, unsettling, and immersive.
Within carefully constructed, almost theatrical settings, Stoddart arranges forms and imagery with precision and wit. Each piece encourages viewers to navigate a complex network of shapes, textures, and colors, where meaning emerges through material and composition rather than explicit narrative. Dismember My Monster reveals a world that is simultaneously humorous, eerie, and vividly imaginative.

LOTTIE STODDART
b. 1989, British
Lottie Stoddart’s multi-disciplinary practice encompasses painting, ceramic, textile, animation and creative writing. These varied modes cross-pollinate in endless strains and variations around her core interest in narrative constructions; stories which are condensed, cut-up, distorted, layered and repositioned to create versions and inversions. An engagement with the evolution of literature underlies this process of distillation, where fictions are excavated and reinterpreted. Stoddart often stages these formations within a recessed space that has intimations of theatre, memory boxes and bass relief. She likes each component to be as specific as the word choice in a verse of free-form poetry, where the clews to decoding lies in illusion, materiality and humorous juxtaposition.
