ASSOCIATION OF WOMEN IN THE ARTS X BROOKFIELD PROPERTIES

OPEN CALL

IN BETWEEN: HOLDING SPACE FOR PAUSE, PLAY
AND POSSIBILITY

For the third year, AWITA is partnering with Brookfield Properties to give members the opportunity to curate a sculpture installation in the ground floor space at 100 Bishopsgate.

As one of the premier real estate sites developed and managed by Brookfield Properties, 100 Bishopsgate is part of a portfolio that serves over 20,000 tenants across the City of London. With a focus on maximizing the tenant experience,

Brookfield Properties believes in the unique ability of art and culture to transform spaces, bring people together, and provide inspiration.

The Brookfield Properties x AWITA initiative supports and increases visibility for female sculptors and curators through commissioning opportunities and exhibition platforms.

A sculpture exhibition of new or existing work by a single artist in the ground floor space of 100 Bishopsgate.

Reception spaces are places of transition between arrival and departure, movement and stillness. This commission invites curators to reimagine the reception at 100 Bishopsgate as more than a corridor between destinations: as a stage for encounter, curiosity, and playful reorientation.

Drawing on the Situationist idea of dérive - drifting through space without fixed purpose - we ask: what might happen if this “in-between” became a place to linger, to wander in thought, or to play? How might a sculptural intervention spark moments of joy, surprise, or quiet contemplation in the flow of the working day?

Just as parks offer breathing spaces in the city, this project seeks to create an “interior park” within the rhythms of an office, a space that encourages visitors to pause, notice, and imagine new possibilities.

The duration of the exhibition is 9 months.

The proposals will be reviewed by a selection committee of Clare Lilley, independent curator, writer, and consultant specialising in sculpture and sculpture in the public realm, Saff Williams, Curatorial Director at Brookfield Properties, and Sigrid Kirk, curator, adviser & strategist.

Deadline: Friday 3rd October 2025
